Hello All.. Every now and then We receive comments from Our guest insisting that Creoles are in denial of their Racial heritage, which is far from the truth.. For 6 years and since the inception of frenchcreoles We have always tried to clarify the issue, that Being Creole does NOT denote Race but rather a Distinct Culture, but, there is always someone out there that thinks otherwise.. There are Black Creoles ,White Creoles and mixed Race Creoles..This web site not only honors Our Mixed Race heritage but also Our african roots.. In no way are Creoles , especially on this web site in denial of their African Roots....Because a Great deal of Creoles have fair skin doesn't mean that We don't want to be Black.. We are Not Completely black and We are NOT Completely White... We are Creoles and We are entitled to be respected for what We are ... We were not Created to please others, Who don't like the way We look.... If you mix the different colors of the crayons you most certainly will get black, but Creoles are not Crayons and We did'nt turn out Black....Yes The Haitians, Were the FirstPeople of African decent in the World to Gain their freedom from their European oppressors, but if you study their History, carefully, you will find that Their Great leaders and presidents were Creoles of Color .. ..All our lives we have been looked down by others who expect that We should be humble and apologetic because we don't fit the mold...Well, we don't care about the mold...because the Mold has never cared about the Creole. We care more about who We are and how Much Our ancestors tried to keep Our Culture Alive ... I do not want my Grand kids to grow up thinking that because they have fair skin that they are not acceptable...I had to fight this Racist attitude all my life simply because my skin was light...I don't claim to be better than anyone else but I am VERY proud of my Creole Hereitage and My light skin and it does'nt matter to Me who thinks otherwise.... I'm not concerned about Malkcom X or what others seem to think.. because we are not Black in color does not pre-supose that Creoles are in denial or are ashamed of their Black roots..Every light skinned Creole can tell you that We did not choose the way We look nor who Our ancestors would be..... It seems that Racism comes in all colors..many of the visitors who surf on to the web site are offended to See many light skinned Creoles and very few Dark skinned Creoles and assume that We are in Denial...Well the fact of the matter is that We are here to stay and We will not allow Our culture to die simply because someone is push out of shape by the way We look... Not only do we have to fight White Racism but Anti- Creole attitudes from other people of color .If people are offended by what they see on Frenchcre0oles.com then they can simply click the button on the mouse augustine/Comeaux ...A Creole Forever

I dont consider myself africanamercan I am a black man with south and east texas roots my maternal great great grandmother was a free born quadroon.What I understand from my grandmother and ancesterol pictures is that she was part african,indian,and spanish. she was very fair with cool grey eyes and bonestraight black hair. I am brown with curly to wavy hair and from texas what does that make me? creols say they are a mixed people.Well if you mix all the crayons together you get black. Dont get me wrong I do admire the creole culture. I just wonder why more energy is focused on the european heritage and pedigree and not the african roots also. It seems to me that the claim of being a mixed people is a covert deniel of ones blackness if french ancestory is the only highlight. And let us note that our pure nappy headed dark ancesteral matrons must have been pretty darn appealing to masa also. If it wasnt for thier black a** it would not have been any mulattos,quadroons,or octoroons at a quadroon ball. To be proud of ones cultural heritage is one thing, to be ashamed of your racial identity is another. For example whether irish, german, french,italian,greek,jewish,redhead,blonde, brunette fair or dark they all bond under the banner of white. elijah muhamad a creole or mulatto by your definition said that we are not africans he said we are the asiatic blackman. And what about other american born blacks who can trace european ancestory, which many can do. Do they say their german becaus their name is Clouser. I see no reason for destinct creole racial classification for light skined niggaz from louisianna, the thought of it is absurd. Creole as cultural identiy should be respected. As a racial identity it seems niggarish. And lets not forget haiti were the blackest black can still speak creole and infact creole it is their national language and they didnt lay on their backs for freedom they fought for it and won against napoleans army. The only people of color in this hemispher to accomplish vitory against a western power. So hail to my very dark brothers the creoles of haiti. There is strenght in numbers black people all over globe have been hood winked on this issue of color and hair. and what about angola,ethiopia,senegal are they creoles they are a pretty people too? As a Blackman with diverse ancestory I feel compelled too to let my facinating louisiana creole brothers and sister know that color doesnt give you a pattent on the culture, but maybe it gives you one self shame. peace

Thank God for this site! I am a 16 year old creole, and I am glad to have found this site so that I can learn about my people. I was always the only creole in my classes, and it was difficult being grouped in with the African-American students who I felt so wholly different from, due to my culture. And of course there were the light-skinned comments, and comments about my hair (although creoles can look like anything, such as my half native american red-brown skinned mother). This site has helped me a lot with these societal problems. Keep up the good work!
