a World wide resurgence of Creolism

This article says that Creolism is being threatened to a slow
death in the Seychelles hence the need for the Creole week ?
It is a fact that Creolism should not see modernism as a threat
but rather embrace modernity so as not to be seen as dead culture.
These are the sort of topics we will reflect on in Vegas next
year as I opine that Creole culture is dynamic in view of its
permissiveness and changing role in context. It is viewed differently
in the USA where there is a resurgence of Creolism and in Australia
modernism or the occidental culture is not "killing"
the Creole culture at all.
In Canada the Creole diasporas are coming up better than ever
and are very dynamic with their regular Fetes Creoles, pena
passe par 4 chemin Creole is the word.. The third generation
in Australia is showing very positive signs by coming more and
more to their roots.
Some may still have a complex with the
language but this can be explained as the Mauritian Creole,
for many Mauritians, has not yet reached the status of a language
whereas it is a language it is onw rights and official in the
Seychelles, in Reunion, Haiti, and in the Carribenas and more
and more books and literature in Creole are being published.
The mentality and approch to Creole language has dramaitically
changed in Mauritius through political will and with no fear
of oriental backlash, Creole will be introduced as a subject
in schools pena bare...
How far the threat is really serious in the Seychelles I wonder
as it has often been called the craddle of creolism.I am not
totally agreable with the interviewee as an expert he is rather
pesismistic and should explore more the notion of culture in
its antropological context and especially in the context of
Seychelles.
A culture cannot just die because of invasion of
occidentalism or globalisation, it takes time and it can react
and fight back depending on prevailing circumstances and how
cultured is the population.
We all know the economic problems facing the Seychelles, their
greed to consume, their gredd for more information and travel,
the more there is a shortage of currency, the more they want
to import and travel...Seychelles has lately been confronted
with a wave of information and fashion form the west but from
what I saw Seychellois can eat kenturky of macdonald once but
still prefers his poisson grille and rice, which are now in
takeaway at Pirate Arms.
We know the cultural invasion that the west tend to impose on
small nation state like Seychelles or Mauritius against ecomonic
aid or trade. They done it with Australia and doing in ot the
Me and everywhere...they can't stop and still more if george
Bush is returned as this is his Grand startegy "to rule
the world pas de pitie pu;avoor les canards boiteux!!!"
It could be that it is being overtaken by the new emerging Rodrigues
who is getting more and more support from the Creole businesspeople
and creole community of Mauritius.
A new nation in the making
watch out....but Creolism is more and more taking an international
dimention to the extent that emminent lecturere and authors
like Pf rapahel Confiant an Jean Bernabe are now takin Creeolism
to a new dimention that of a civilisation.
