Rudolph Lucien

free man of color

1613 Pauger Street
New Orleans, La.
(1820 - present)

This is an unusual three-bay cottage with a Greek Revival entrance leading to a side hall: the Greek Revival door surround and the hall reveal Anglo-American influence in construction. Lucien Mansion, a free man of color and a prominent tabacco manufacturer, built the house after his purchase of the lot in 1848.
